According to the 2020 AVMA Guidelines, laboratory animal euthanasia requires minimizing pain and distress, with CO2 inhalation being a common method for rodents. AVMA guidelines suggest using compressed CO2 gas to displace 30%–70% of the chamber/cage volume per minute. Euthanasia in the home cage is preferred to minimize stress, and animals must not be overcrowded.

The Euthatox Tabletop Auto CO2 System is an advanced automated euthanasia unit that has been developed specifically for euthanizing small rodents, considering AVMA guidelines. The system incorporates three key components, the Controller, Chamber and exhaust system. The system works with preset timings that assure humane and efficient levels of CO2. The Euthatox automates a three-stage euthanasia cycle at the push of a button: charging, dwell time, and exhaust. The clear polycarbonate front and top windows provide visibility, while the top-loading lid offers easy cage access. Airtight, gasket-sealed door prevents gas leakage during operation. The manifold design ensures even gas distribution. The system includes a mobile cart for ergonomic height when loading and unloading cages. The colour-touch PLC screen allows easy operation.
